Logging in to  for the first time

Before you can use , you must have the following information from the server administrator at your site:

To start  

  1. Type the URL of the  server in your web browser. This is the form:
  2. http://<hostname of the  server> or http://<IP address>

    Login may take a few minutes to complete because your browser must load the  applet to view images and reports from the server.

  3. At the security warning, select Yes to install the Java 2 Runtime Environment.
  4. After a moment, the Java 2 Runtime Environment license dialog opens. Read the license and select I accept the terms in the license agreement.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Select Typical as the set up type and click Next.
  7. Click Finish.
  8. If you are prompted, restart your computer.
  9. Once you have restarted, launch a browser window a type the URL again.
  10. Before you can log in, you are asked to accept the security certificate.
  11. The Java applet used by  is signed with a security certificate so that it can access certain features of your computer, such as printing. The certificate verifies that the applet has been obtained from a trusted source, and will not perform any illegal operations.

  12. Type your user ID and password, then press Enter, or click Login to log in to the  Server.
  13. If you are using a Mac, you must click in the user ID field before typing your user ID.

    If the password is incorrect, a message will inform you that your login attempt failed. Re-enter your ID and password and try again.

    If the password is correct, the Study page opens on top of the  login screen.
    This page allows you to search the server’s database or remote devices for studies and select them for viewing at your computer.
