Determining the DirectX version

Microsoft Windows includes a DirectX Diagnostic tool that you can run to determine what version of DirectX is installed on your computer.

To determine the DirectX version

  1. From the Start menu, select Run.
  2. Type dxdiag and click OK.
  3. In the DirectX Diagnostic Tool dialog, select No.
  4. The DirectX Diagnostic Tool opens. On the System tab, look for DirectX Version.
  5. Make note of the version and click Exit.
  6. If you do not have DirectX 9.0 or greater, upgrade your version.
