(on This Page).
Search tips
- Searches are not case-sensitive; for example, search, SEARCH,
and Search all return the same results.
- You must type the whole word; using partial words does not return the correct
results. For example, searching on navigat does not
return topics that contain navigate, navigation, navigated,
or navigating.
- Unless you use the search constraints OR or NOT, results include topics
that contain all of the search terms you typed.
- If the results are too broad, add keywords. For example, using the keyword
search may return many results; using the keywords search wildcard
returns only topics that contain both words.
- To make your search broader, use the OR constraint; for example, cd
or dvd returns topics that contain either of these words. You
can also use the OR constraint to search using alternate terms; for example,
media or carrier.
- To exclude words in a search, use the NOT constraint. For example,
archive not library returns all topics that contain the word archive,
except for those that also contain the word library.
- Punctuation marks such periods, quotation marks, commas, and hyphens are
ignored.
- Common words such as a, of, and but are ignored.
Note:
Searching is available only on Windows systems running Internet Explorer.
