Cardiology invasive corrective workflow: The patient's view

At its simplest, a workflow is a sequence of events, initiated by a trigger event, such as when a study is scheduled. For a patient, a cardiology invasive corrective workflow begins during the invasive diagnostic workflow when the need for an angioplasty is determined, and ends when the procedure is complete and the patient is recovered.

The invasive corrective workflow continues the invasive diagnostic workflow. Because the patient is already enduring an invasive procedure, there is no need to send the patient home and schedule the angioplasty for a later date. In this case, the invasive corrective workflow is a continuation of the invasive diagnostic workflow.

The following topics outline a typical, simplified cardiology workflow for an invasive corrective procedure from the patient's perspective:

  1. Procedure, Reporting, and Follow-up Care
  2. Recovery
