Cardiology Invasive Diagnostic Workflow: The Patient's View

At its simplest, a workflow is a sequence of events, initiated by a trigger event, such as when a study is scheduled. For a patient, a cardiology invasive diagnostic workflow begins after his non-invasive workflow is complete and a cardiologist has determined the need for an invasive diagnostic procedure like an angiogram, and ends when the diagnostic procedure is complete and the patent is recovered.

The invasive diagnostic workflow is followed by an invasive corrective workflow.

The following topics outline a typical, simplified cardiology workflow for an invasive procedure from the patient's perspective:

  1. Scheduling
  2. Patient Arrives
  3. Procedure, Reporting, and Follow-up Care
  4. Results Distribution
