Enabling lossy compression as the default preference

Compression reduces the file size of an image and is used if you are transmitting images to a station via a slow connection. Lossy compression is a method of compressing an image which results in a slight reduction of image quality. However, for non-diagnostic purposes such as the  display, the reduction incurred is minimal. You can compress images on an individual basis or you can set lossy compression as the default.

To enable lossy compression by default

  1. Click Preferences.
  2. Select the Lossy compression enabled by default checkbox.
  3. See Using Lossy Compression for more information.

  4. To return to the Display list, click Apply.
