Understanding the Display list columns

Some sites may elect not to use some of the following columns, and therefore, not all of the following columns may appear in your list. Use the Study tab of the Preferences tool to select the necessary columns for your site.

Column Heading

Description

Patient Name

Displays the patient's name by last, then first name. All the fields including prefix, middle initial, and suffix are separated by commas.

Patient ID

The patient's identification number. In most hospitals, the patient ID is synonymous with the medical record.

Accession number

A unique ID or job number that is generated by the hospital RIS and used for tracking each exam and its corresponding patient name, date, and exam type.

Study Date

Shows the year, month, and day when the patient folder was created at the modality.

Study Time

Shows the hour, minute, and second when the study was created at the modality.

Study Description

Contains the RIS examination code. This code specifies the nature of the examination.

Study Comment

Comments are entered at a diagnostic station and included in the DICOM header information. This is a read-only field in  .

Referring Physician

The patient's doctor who sent the patient for a specialist's opinion.

Modality

Displays a two-letter code for the type of imaging modality. For example, Magnetic Resonance is MR.

Image Status

Indicates status information of the study. See Status of Studies for details.

Exam Status Indicates if the exam is new, scheduled, or reviewed. The information in this field is populated with information that accompanies the study images and can be updated if HIS verification is turned on.

Patient Location

Indicates the last known location of the patient.

Department

The name of the department in the institution where the exam was performed.

Images

The number of images in the study.

Reason for Study

The patient's symptoms and/or the patient's condition as a reason for the study.

Specialty

The body part that has been mapped to the RIS examination code.

Gender Attribute Indicates the gender of the patient.

Body Part

The part of the body where the study was taken.
